(continued...) The mirror tool aids the creation of symmetrical model as typically required for 'characters'.
While active, all actions including creating new primitives and edits are mirrored.
In the paintshop, the model storage beakers are replaced by a palette of bitmaps that can be applied directly to the model surface as decals with a single click.
These include a wide range of face elements, wingdings, text and numerals.
The main tool palette allows model textures to be selected and customised and the drawing toolbox is replaced by a background scene selector.
This in turn becomes the road surface and path creation toolbox in the animator model.
The road is itself a blob so by switching back to the modeller, it can be profiled to create humps and bumps.
Similarly, being a blob it can be animated as each blob can be assigned its own path, movement style and speed.
Getting blobs to move is as simple as setting the path start point and selecting the style of movement ranging from walking and jumping for bipeds, through slithering to galloping for quadrupeds! No complex creation of bones or keyframing, the blob is automatically manipulated to give convincing distortions for each of the motion styles.
The only necessary intervention can be manual setting of direction arrows for top and forwards in order to orientate the blob onto the path.
There is even a radio tuner style dial to select appropriate musical background for the masterpiece.
So this modelling goop is not CAD for kids, its a fresh and approachable lab that positively encourages experimentation with form and colour.
And it is not just for kids but rather consumer 3D modelling; I've found it highly addictive.
Hidden away is some very sophisticated technology, demanding at least the minimum recommended processor hardware of 1GHz.
Available as a download from cosmicblobs.com, this modelling marvel can be yours (or your kids') for only $39.99.
